Some people like to keep their contact information private. There are many ways to do this, but the most common is to change the settings on your phone. Here are some instructions on how to hide your contact name on your lock screen iphone.
I’m not sure how to do this. I don’t want people to see who I’m texting, or who I’m calling. I’ve tried to search for this on my phone, but I can’t find anything. I’m not sure if this is possible, I just want to be able to answer the phone and hope nobody sees the texts. or pictures sent to me.
iOS has a rather annoying feature that allows users to check their contacts with the help of the lock screen.
The feature is quite simple and straightforward; but if you need to use it, you should read this post first. The reason why you need to do so is that if your contacts are listed on the lock screen, then whenever you go back to your phone, Apple will include your contact information in its list of information about you. This is a terrible thing for many users who don’t want their first name and/or email listed on their device.
Nowadays, many people have gotten used to using another way to check their contacts: using the address book on their iOS device (which is really handy for those who don’t have an iPhone). In case you didn’t know, Phone app has got a “Contact” tab in it which lists all of your contacts on your phone. But there are also third party apps that let you hide information about yourself (such as your email address) or other stuff (such as your contact name).
In this post you’ll find some ways to hide contact names from lock screen which will make it less convenient for people who don’t want that information – such as those who don’t want to share personal data with strangers.
Step 1 Go to “Settings > Notifications > Messages”. Step 2 Turn off “Show on Lock Screen” to disable name displaying on lock screen.
This is a simple lock screen tweak that I’ve been working on for awhile. It adds a few lines to your lock screen that make it a little easier to do things like share with someone. The feature is available for both iPhone and iPad.
The app, Contact Lock Screen , is available through the App Store . Once installed, open the app and navigate to the settings menu. Tap the gear icon in the upper left hand corner and select “Preferences” from there. Scroll down until you find “Lock Screen” and turn “On” if it isn’t already on. Now go back to your regular settings menu (if you’re using a different device, you’ll need to locate it) and turn on “Lock Screen”. You should then be presented with a screen like this:
The first thing you’ll need to do is set what time zone you live in by going back to your home screen and tapping the clock icon on the bottom right (the one with three dots at the top). Then tap “Edit” at the bottom of this screen and select one of several options:
I live in Central Time Zone aka Mountain Standard Time so I selected “Central” (or just call me Tim). The next thing I need to do is define how long my day is for. For me, Saturday starts at 8am so I picked 8am as my startdate .
Now that’s all set up, head back into your regular settings menu (if you’re using a different device) and select “Lock Screen” from there before tapping OK . It should now look like this:
Now we can head back into our regular settings menu again (if you’re using a different device) and select “Customization” . This will show us some more options:
Tap this section for more layout tweaking options such as font size or increasing or decreasing font size or changing color schemes or various other tweaks we might want to take advantage of. Once done here
The way to do it is to tap Settings > Privacy > Contact Sharing & Blocking and turn off the option “Show contact names as big buttons”. This will prevent any contact names from showing up on the lock screen (but will still remain visible in the contacts list).
You can then go back into Settings and change the lock screen’s behavior so that they are not shown unless there is an incoming call or message. You can also change the behavior in device settings > General > Privacy (if you have it configured) or in LockScreen settings (if you don’t). If you don’t have any of those options set, then just turn off all other options (including contact sharing).
Go to Settings, then Notifications, and tap on Messages. Scroll down to the bottom and you’ll see an option called Show Previews. Tap the little toggle button so that it is no longer green. Now when you get a text or iMessage from someone, you will only see the name of the person and not the message.
Step 1: Touch the Settings icon. Step 2: Select the Notification Center option. Step 3: Scroll down and select the Messages option. Step 4: Scroll down and touch the button to the right of Show Preview to turn it off.
Turn Off, then On Short Name Setting
Open your iPhone settings, and scroll down and tap on ‘Contacts’. … In Short Name settings, turn off the toggle for ‘Short Name’. Now, while you’re at it, also turn off the toggle for ‘Prefer Nicknames’. Go to the Messages app and see if this fixed your issue.
It’s at the recipient end that controls whether they see your number or your name. It will show your name if they have saved your number to their “Contacts” list and then added your name as the contact.
Tap Settings from your Home screen. Scroll to and then tap Phone. From the Phone menu, select the option to Show My Caller ID. Then toggle the switch next to Show My Caller ID to turn the feature Off.
Stop your number showing
To block caller ID for an individual call, dial 1831 (or #31# from a mobile) then the number you are calling. Generally, this will make sure the person you are calling will not see your number.
Go to Settings > tap your name to access Apple ID settings > iCloud > and look under Apps Using iCloud and make sure that “Contacts” is toggled to the ON position to be enabled.
If your contacts’ numbers are shown instead of their names, you might need to reset the WhatsApp sync with your contacts. … Open your phone’s Settings, then tap Users & accounts > WhatsApp. Tap REMOVE ACCOUNT > REMOVE ACCOUNT. Open WhatsApp, then tap the new chat icon > More options > Refresh.
Go to Settings > Accounts and tap on your Google account. Tap on Account sync and look for Contacts. Now, enable the toggle next to Contacts and if it’s already on, turn it off and on again.
just call customer care by calling 611 and we can shorten your name in our system and have tech update your caller id info in the system.
Check iCloud, iMessage and Facetime and be sure the ID’s are not the same. Go to Settings > Contacts and make sure that your own contact card is listed next to “My Info” on your own device, and your wife’s contact card is listed under My Info on hers.
“As soon as the call is placed, it can be tracked and traced to where it is being originated.” … Dialing *67 may cloak your call from other Caller ID-equipped phones, but not from your carrier or the authorities.
Your Caller ID will only appear for people that haven’t saved your phone number as a contact. If the person you’re calling has saved you on their phone’s Contacts list, the name they’ve saved as a contact will display, along with your number.
To hide your number for one call, enter 141 before the number you’re calling. If you’ve hidden your caller identity, enter 1470 before the number to show it for that call.
You can lock or hide messages, and even turn off message previews on iPhone so that your personal information stays private. There are even some secret text messaging apps for iPhones.
If you find iMessage showing numbers, not name OR some of your contacts (possibly all) are missing from your iDevice immediately after an iOS upgrade; one option is to restore them back from your iCloud backup. … Next, restart your iDevice and come back to this setting and turn back ON Contacts under iCloud.
Why are my contact names not showing on incoming calls on Android? Firstly, make sure that your contacts are synced on your device. After that, check permissions and, if that fails, set the default Phone app.
If you’ve changed your default account settings for the Contacts app to iCloud, you may notice that some contacts that were stored on your iPhone are now missing. You can find them and manually add them to your Contacts app. Then, when iCloud backs up your iPhone again, those contacts will be added and saved.
Go to: More > Settings > Contacts to Display. Your settings should be set to All contacts or use Customized list and turn on all the options to enable more contacts to be visible from within the app.
Log in to My T-Mobile. Click Your Profile > Customer information. Update the name and click Save.
The common reason to this usually occurring is mainly because there is one appleID being used and signed into over two or more devices thus having contacts synced to the device. Basically, when the appleID is signed into on your husband’s device, the contacts from.
This happens when you both use the same Apple ID for iMessage. To fix this you have two choices: On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID.
Check that there is a single contact card for you and that it contains your name, Apple ID email address and iPhone number. Remove any duplicate contact cards and remove anyone else’s contact details from your own card.
